RV Interior Cleaning Guide

The last thing you want while trying to enjoy your RV trip is to be surrounded by dirt, dust, and trash. Luckily, keeping your RV clean is relatively simple once you know what to do. If you’re not sure where to start, check out this guide from the experts at Camp Life RV.  

Supplies

Like with any cleaning job, your first step should be to gather your supplies. Avoid using harsh chemicals in tight spaces. Lemon juice, vinegar, and baking soda are cheap, effective, and gentle enough to be used on your RV’s interior. Round out your supplies list with sponges, microfiber wipes, and dish soap. 

Bathroom

The bathroom in an RV is a bit different than the bathroom in a traditional home. We recommend that you clean your RV’s toilet at least once a week while on the road. If you don’t have room for a toilet bowl brush, you can use a paper towel or find a brush explicitly meant for RV use. The rest of the bathroom will need to be cleaned periodically as well, though bear in mind that harsh cleaning products can damage certain surfaces.  

Kitchen

Keeping your RV’s kitchen clean and clutter-free will help make cooking easier and less stressful. Wipe down any frequently used surfaces and don’t forget to clean appliances like your stove or oven. It’s also important that you make a habit of removing expired food from both your fridge and your pantry. Dirty dishes can pile up quickly, so be sure to wash up after every meal. 

Bedroom

Cleaning an RV bedroom is a lot like cleaning your bedroom at home. Vacuum the floors, wash the linens, and keep clutter to a minimum. Since you don’t have much space to work with, it’s important that you don’t let dirty clothes pile up. 

Living Room

Be sure to dust your RV’s living room every week. We recommend labeling cabinets to help keep things organized. Most furniture can be wiped down or brushed, though microfiber coverings will need to be sprayed with rubbing alcohol and lightly scrubbed.
