Tips on RV Camping in the Spring
Looking to avoid the crowds and take your RV camping trip a little early this year? While spring is a beautiful season to experience the majesty of the great outdoors, to ensure you’re prepared for the unique challenges the season can bring, we recommend reading through our important camping tips below.
Maintenance Tips
To ensure you stay toasty and warm when temperatures drop after nightfall, you’ll need to help insulate your RV and prepare for the cold weather. We recommend purchasing some heavy curtains for your RV, as well as applying weather stripping to doors and windows. If your model has any holes or cracks that could allow cold air to trickle in, we suggest sealing these up before you leave for your spring camping trip. If you’re traveling to an area that’s exceptionally cold, it may also be a good idea to add some antifreeze to your black and gray water tanks and bring along some pipe insulation covers for your plumbing.
Accessories & Gear
Spring is well known for its random rain showers, so be sure to bring along waterproof gear such as rain boots, a jacket, and a hat to protect you. Because nights can get cold, we also recommend bringing along plenty of warm clothes and blankets, as well as a space heater or heated blanket.
If you’re traveling later in the spring season, or to a region that’s typically pretty warm, insects and pollen will be in abundance. Be sure to bring plenty of bug repellent, as well as some allergy medication to take with you on your trip.
